Even though Minnesota’s Lakeville public schools saw cuts in teacher staff, their arts program, and the closing of a whole school as a result of their $7 million budget cut, they did have plenty of Minnesota taxpayer money to send several of their teachers to the White Privilege Conference held in Minneapolis (and to pay substitute teachers in their absence). The conference attendees got to participate in workshops on “how white privilege, white supremacy, and oppression affect daily life.”7 Because don’t you see how all of this is totally relevant to education? Don’t you see how all of these white-guilt workshops will help kids? Don’t you, you white privileged jerks?

Seriously. Enough with this politically correct, white privilege, racial-overtones-in-everything crap. You know what would really help make society more colorblind? If we stopped talking about race all the time and focused instead on peoples’ character.

And that’s what conservatives are right to do. Whether you’re a person of color or a person of pallor, conservatives judge you by your character.

Unfortunately, black Americans have aligned themselves with Democrats for decades, which has been wildly successful for Democrats. But can black Americans really say the same? Has the Democratic Party served them well? (Hint: the answer is no.)

DEMOCRATS HAVEN’T HELPED BLACK PEOPLE

Let’s be real here. Democrat policies have hurt black Americans for decades. But don’t take it from two lily-white chicks. Take it from Walter Williams, a black American economist at George Mason University, who said it best when he explained, “The welfare state has done to black Americans what slavery could not have done, namely break up the black family.”8 He went on to say that just over 30 percent of black children live in two-parent families, compared to 75–90 percent until the 1940s. This is a direct result of welfare policies, because as Williams points out, “If you subsidize anything, you’re going to get surpluses of it, and if you tax something, you’re going to get less of it.” What would happen if there was no welfare? People would have to decide to live more responsibly. Government, through the implementation of liberal welfare programs, Williams said, has made black male fathers dispensable.

Or take it from Thomas Sowell, a black American senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, who wrote that Democrat-imposed minimum wage policies have directly and negatively impacted black people.9 When Roosevelt established minimum wages in 1933, for example, blacks lost a half million jobs. There is indisputable evidence that continuously raising the minimum wage creates high unemployment, especially among minorities. And what happens when there’s high unemployment among minorities? Too many are recruited into lives of crime, and too many are enticed onto the government dole. Too many blacks were lured by Democrats into homes they couldn’t really afford when Democrats went on an “affordable housing crusade” and high rates of subsequent foreclosures ended up reducing the number of black-owned homes to levels lower than before the crusade began.

Or take it from David A. Clarke Jr., the sheriff of Milwaukee County,
